Am searching for anything on the ancestors and descendants of
Mary Elizabeth DeArmond or DeArmand
born 27 January 1872 in Texas.
She married 17 Nov 1891 in Texas or Sebastian County, Arkansas, William Jefferson Simmons, a man 55 years older than she who had been married 3 previous times.
Mary Elizabeth's parents disowned her because they thought that the "De" before Armand set them apart as royalty and didn't think Mr. Simmons was good enough for her. The DeArmond/DeArmands were French and Catholic. WJ Simmons owned and operated a grocery store, was the post master, owned a working farm and was a Methodist Minister Circuit Rider in Sebastian County, Arkansas.
Mary Elizabeth DeArmand Simmons lived with her daughter, Clora Ford, in San Diego, CA after WJ Simmons died when she was 45 yrs old. She lived about 82 yrs.
