I am looking for Horace DeArman who married martha C. Hart onn 16 August l854 in Fannin County, Texas, according to Hart Family Records. The l860 Census of Fannin County, Texas, shows Horace was a 30 year old Tennessee born farmer with no land and $300 in other property. Mary was born in Illinois, and their son (Jonathan J.) was born in Texas. Although he was listed as a farmer, there is evidence that indictes that he was a blacksmith. Horace died in l863 near Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, because of his Unionist beliefs. He was hanged.
I am a schoolteacher who has been involved in a research project that is investigating the circumstances of this and other hangings. I would like to know about Horace and his family to preserve his story. I would appreciate any help or clues that you might provide.
