Dearman Family Genealogy Forum

Deerman/Dearman and Realated Families is excellent resource for researching your Dearman lines. While some of the details regarding the Lucretia Bassett/James Dearman family is wrong the basics are pretty much valid. For example the Source cites that Thomas Bassett and Sarah Cleveland had three children, LUCY, Thomas and Francis and that LUCY, of course, was LUCRETIA who married JAMES DEARMAN.......WRONG, Thomas and Sarah BASSETT had SEVEN children, six of which survived to adulthood. LUCRETIA was "Cretia" and LUCY was Lucinda BASSETT [my ggg-grandmother]. Also, Francis S. Bassett married Elmina Woodayard, not Almira Woodyard. The author does state, however, the much of the information on the Bassett family is attributed to statements made by Mrs. E. L. Betts of Montgomery, AL, some years past. Jonathan DEARMAN and his family are found in both Miss and AL. By 1833 Jonathan Dearman and son William remove to Sumpter Co., AL.
