My grandfather worked at the foundry in Philly all his life. He loved the shore and spent all his spare time there. He was killed in Wildwood when he was riding his bicycle and was hit by a taxi. I was 26 at the time, we were very close. I found that William Lambe Deane married Sarah Drake in 1810. His father was John Deane. I have found limited information but John married a woman by the name of Cathirine. I have not been able to find her maiden name yet but I am thinking that it is possible we are dealing with the generation that came from England. I am leaning on researching the ships from around 1710. I have heard from stories that someone in our family tree was the govenor general of Barbados but I have looked over the entire list and haven't found any names that spark interest. If this story is true then the govenor general at the time may have been related through the marriage of William Wellington Deane/Mary Elizabeth Crick. Maybe her side or through one of their 6 children, 4 of them girls. I can remember meeting Ruth at the shore one year when she visited my Grandfather. I was young at the time. My father's favorite aunt was Roselle. Many stories were told about her. The govenor story is an interesting one that I would like to solve one day. I will put something together for you later this upcoming week. I will also see if I can find some pictures of your family and scan them and e-mail them to you.
