Deane Surname Irl-Au-UK
Posted by: William J. Deane Date: February 04, 1998 at 17:26:03
  of 613

I am currently assembling a file on our surname which is initially
focused on Ireland where my grandfather John served in the Royal Irish
Constabulary was subsequently a caretaker on retirement and was married
late in life to my grandmother Mary Donovan-McCarthy a widow with four sons.
Their home was a small farm in Kippagh outside of Dunmanway,West Cork
My father William was the only child of that marriage. My grandfather's
brother-William left Ireland in the early 1920's for Australia and
since the going away party was in Clonikility. I would assume he lived
in Clon or close by.
My father emigrated to Boston in 1927 and stayed in contact with
his three of stepbrothers, two of whom I met,(one brother had been
killed in action in WWI-served in the British Army's South Irish Horse)
I would like to hear from others with Deane family interests in Ireland,
Australia and the U.K.
