Jabez Dean was born 11 Nov 1751 on Quaker Hill, Dutchess County New York. He was a revolutionary soldier who applied for a pension on 16 Oct 1832 . He appeared personally in open court before the Judge of the Court of Common Pleas in the County of Otsego, New York. In the year 1775 , he was a resident of the town of Stillwater Saratoga New York . He was a guard for ammunitions from Stillwater to Fort George in April or May 1775 for about four months. They had no commissioned officer to comand them while in the actual transportatin of the ammunition. He was also under Colonel Livingston at Fort Stanwix. He married Hannah Cummings, a relative of Daniel Cummings on 19 Sept 1805 with Esra Dean performing the marriage. Jabez Dean's family moved to a variety of places until he was about six years of age when they removed to Stillwater, New York. When he was about twenty-three, he moved to Hillsdale, Columbia County, New York for about eight years and then to Schenectomy New York for about three years. From there he moved to Kinderhook New York for about four yearsand then to Nassau New York for one year. He finally moved to Otsego County New York to the town of Maryland. He never had any written discharge from his military service.
