In 1872 Samuel Dean completes a memorandum stating:
Don't know him. If it is Lemuel Dean, he just the? may to claims what don't belong to him." The last page of another memorandum says "If this is Lemuel Dean, he is a rebel, & tricky enough to make his name Samuel Dean. The end says Opion of Thos F(?) Nealey
