Renee... I am not related in any way to the Dean family. However, I have a box of ephemera that I've been saving for many years. I have two hand written copies of the last will and testament of Benjamin Dean. The first and seemingly longer of the two begins: "In the Name of God Amen I Benjamin Dean of Taunton in the County of Bristol in the State of Massachusetts Gentleman" and continues with being of sound mind and memory etc. dated "the sixth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Nine. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Ebenezer Caswell (sp?) Joseph Dean Cyrus Caswel (sp?) Benjamin Dean" The second copy is written on the back of a sheet of sums dated from 1802 through 1811. I don't know if these sums are relevant to the will or not. The writing is difficult to decipher as the papers are slightly faded and very fragile. The script and English can drive you crazy. Names inheriting Benjamin's estate are: His wife, Mercy His oldest son, Samuel Dean and his heirs and aligns forever His other son, Luther Dean and his heirs and aligns forever Granddaughter, Clarissa Dean (she inherited one good feather bed, furniture, and a cow) There is great detail in the property bequeathed and exactly where it is located and from who he purchased it. He appointed Samuel his Sole Executor. There is no mention of an Isaac Dean as a son of Benjamin and the Benjamin in my paperwork was married to Mercy in 1799 but is from the same location as your Eliphalet Dean. Ahhh... The mysteries of genealogy. Let me know how I can help or clarify the information I have. Bobbie Notify Administrator about this message?
