“A SUDDEN DEATH—Mr. Charles P. DEAN, aged eighty years, died at his home, seven miles northeast of the city, yesterday morning at 5 o’clock. Mr. DEAN arose form his bed as was his custom about 5 o’clock and lighted the lamp in the dining room. When the family came down from their rooms they were horrified to find Mr. DEAN lying dead with his head on the hearth. He had slipped from his arm chair and fallen on the floor. Mr. DEAN was a native of Massachusetts, but the greater portion of his life had been spent in Georgia, where he has been engaged in school teaching and farming. He leaves seven daughters, four single and three married—Mrs. N[icholas] E. MILLER [Triphenia]; Mrs. John [Dawson] CARTLEDGE [Sarah E.]; and Mrs. J[ames Monroe] LOKEY [Mary C]. The funeral will take place today at 9 o’clock a. m., and the remains will be interred in the family burying ground.” [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Friday, 16 SEP 1892.] Charles P.
