David Deal Ohio War of 1812
I have been researching the linage of my family and have been very successful.I have been able to build a path to the year 1540 to the present.I am currently working on the line that leads to Captain John George Overmyer.Their son John Peter Overmyer and his spouse Mary Eva /Hennig/ Overmyer had a daughter named Mary Magdaline who married David Deal in the year 1783 in Perry County, Ohio.
The David Deal I am refering to was a Patriot in the War of 1812 and was last stationed at Fort Megis during what is known as "The Siege of Fort Meigs".The fort remains to this date as a monument to itself in Perrysburg, Ohio.According to his official death record, The date of birth for David Deal is October 19, 1793, Jackson Township, PA.The date of death is March 20, 1882, Sandusky County, Fremont, OH.
Do you happen to have any information concerning this Patriot?I noticed in the web site that linked to this forum that he is mentioned but only as a number in a census. He was well known in his time.My understanding is that he did retire to Fremont and later lived out his life with his son and daughter-in-law.President R.B. Hayes knew him well.Hayes maintained journals and/or diaries. On the date of David's death, President Hayes indicated the date, weather conditions, and "Today I attended David Deal's funeral".There was no other entry for this date.It was reserved for Mr. Deal, the last surviving Patriot in Fremont of the War of 1812.
I only have information about at least five of his children and his spouse and some history.Do you have the names of his parents, birth and death of his parents, Where were his parents from, David's date of marriage to Mary Magdaline and the names of his children (10 in all).If you happen to have pictures of the family indicated herein that would be GREAT!
Be certain when and/or if you happen to research this name. There are several Mary Magdalines and David Deals.Pay particular attention to the dates/years.
Respectfully and Regards,
Brian Baum, aaba, dd
