DENNIS DEAKINS, m. Ann Elizabeth Steele, 1864
Idly entered my own name and got a hit under Descendants of John Ray: Lancashire to Prince George County, MD and Frederick CO, MD early 1700's with reference to several parcels of land in Rock Creek and ALexandria area, "Turkey Thikitt", "Conjunction", "John and Mary". Interesting account of General Lee's spurs, made by Maj Geo. Duffy of Alexandria, and to map of Alexandria by Geo Washington in 1748, buried for safe keeping at Wise's tavern.George Duffy m Sarah Steele 1 July 1845, Alexandria (10 children), fifth John Moffett Steele had newspaper article 12 Feb 1919 "Who is the Oldest Work for Uncle Sam - No 16).He worked at the Washington Navy Yard and was then 80.The seventh, Ann ELizabeth Steele, b 9 Feb, 1843, married Dennis Deakins in 1864.First time I've encountered the name in the Deakins geneology. The description of Lee's spurs which are on exhibit at Lee Chapel, Washington and Lee Univ4esity in Lexington, VA is interesting. Ref:
