I can't answer your question, but would like to thank you for your information! And would love to get a gedcom from you about Richard. I am descended from Justus, who moved to Illinois. The surname in my case changed to Deakin, singular, within a generation. Unsubstanciated rumor has Justus or his son dying in a brothel, or leaving his first family and starting a second 50 miles down the road. I even have picture of the grave stones, all in the same plot, with the surname difference.

Justus DEAKINS, (b. 5/18/1827, in Belmont Co. Ohio) married Margaret STATLER (b. abt 1/12/1824, in Ohio). Both migrated to Cuba, Fulton Co., Illinois. The DEAKINS surname
became DEAKIN within a generation of Justus DEAKINS.
