John Deak, great nephew to Ferenc Deak
If you know the names and family tree of Ferenc Deak's six siblings and their children, I would be grateful for any details you can pass on.
My great grandfather was John Deak who arrived in Western Canada a couple of years prior to the birth of my grandmother in 1914.He was instrumental in the formation of the coal mining unions. His decision not to go to work one day was fortuitous. On that very day, in the exact mine he where he was employed, occurred the largest mining disaster ever to occur in North America (in Hillcrest, Alberta). He met my great grandmother who came to Hillcrest in an effort to help the grieving community. Her name was Suzanne Kiraly (King). They had four children Helen (my grandmother), John (who died as a young adult), Earnest and Frank. My great grandmother (Suzanne Kiraly) lived to be 96 years old.She died in 1989 in Lethbridge, Alberta.
My family is aware that John Deak's great uncle was Ferenc Deak. Thus my great grandpa was the grandson to Ferenc Deak's brother. From what I can gather, Ferenc Deak had six older siblings. His mother died in childbirth, while birthing Ferenc Deak.
The family of Ferenc Deak and his siblings was descended from Istv?n Werb?czy (Verboczy) a celebrated 16th century jurist and author of the Corpus Juris of Hungary.
John Deak, my great grandpa, may have had some ties to Pennsylvania. As a young man he was definitely in the Hungarian military. My family has a handsome picture of him in full uniform. I believe he was from Budapest.
Any additional information you can supply would be helpful.
