Ok, I understand better which person you are working on. Do you know about when your 2great grandfather was born? (Beverly Dupee Carey)? We can then start to guess at how old Elliot was when Beverly was born and guess at when he was born.

Then if this is after 1790 the census records may help to find where Elliot lived and where he was born.

Do you know what church Beverly went to?

Maybe there is a baptism or christening record somewhere that will help give more information about Elliot.

Have you checked with the National Archives there in Washington ?
