Leo Lesquereux (11/18/1806—10/25/1889), Swiss-born, spent the latter half of his life in the U.S.A. He was an eminent bryologist (expert on mosses) and paleobotanist (expert on fossil plants), such as peat bogs. I've read about him in Harry G. Lang and Bonnie Meath-Lang's "Deaf Persons in the Arts and Sciences." I'd like to locate photos of and detailed biographical information on him.
I'm in contact with the Wisconsin Historical Society about a photo in its collection. A fellow poster at the "Find a Grave" Surname Forum gave me a link to Emporia State University's site, which posts biographical info on him, and a portrait. (That's not the end of my search, as the portrait isn't publishable . . . just want to let you know that it's there.)
