Felix Kowalewski (11/20/1913—8/10/1989), a native of Brooklyn, was a beloved Deaf artist who also taught art at several schools for the deaf, and who wrote insightfully about other Deaf artists. His biographies were published in Deaf Community periodicals such as the Silent Worker, and he also published his poems. An illustrated collection, "You and I," was published in 1951. He died in Riverside, California. He's mentioned in Jack R. Gannon's "Deaf Heritage" and in Deborah Meranski Sonnenstrahl's "Deaf Artists in America." I have an old "Deaf American" article about him. I'd like to obtain further information on him and his interviews with other artists, and, of course, photos.
