Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

George E. Detmold (2/18/19178/12/2005), a hearing scholar-administrator, was appointed Dean of Gallaudet College in 1952, and proceeded to carry out some major reforms, one of which was bringing on board his best friend from Cornell, William C. Stokoe, as English professor. (An appointment that would have profound repercussions for the Deaf and linguistic communities.) Detmold left Gally after President Elstad retired. He spent his last years in St. Augustine, Florida, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. I'd like to connect with his family and obtain photos and additional information on him and his distinguished career.
