I just wanted to say, NEVER use the term dumb with deaf. We are not dumb. We are only deaf and some are mute. I was born a hearing person, I lost my hearing to the childhood disease Mumps when I was 8 years old. I learned to talk before loosing my hearing. I have a son who was born deaf. He cannot talk plain like we can (because he like all other deaf people have never heard a voice and never had the opportunity to learn how to speak). You may not have meant any harm by using the word dumb. But believe me those born deaf feel very threatened by that word. They cannot help that they lack learning skills and cannot talk like the hearing. SO please in the future think before YOU speak. God gave us the life we have to live!
