Hello Joan, I do not know if this will help or not. I am from the Wexford Deacons, Wexford neighbours Kilkenny, and parts of both shared the same Church of Ireland Diocese.Any marriage would have taken place in the wife's home parish, so if she was from Kilkenny and he was not, Kilkenny would have been where they would have been wed. This is all a preamble to the fact that I have a record of two Thomas Deacons from Wexford, only one of which fits your date. The first one is Thomas b. Oct.6, 1771 to Thomas Deacon and Jane Shirtcliffe. The second is Thomas b. 1789 to Abraham Deacon and Mgt. Shirtcliffe. Both fathers and mothers were, respectively, brothers and sisters. I do not know any more about either of them as I am descended from an older son of Abraham and Mgt. I do know that it is assumed that the Kilkenny and Wexford Deacons were supposed to be related at some early date. Another suggestion for you is to go to Genforum. genealogy.com Deacon Forum, locate "Search this Forum" top left hand side of page, type in "Hood Hall" which will bring up a series of entries about a search for a James Deacon from Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, which is not far from where all the Wexford Deacons come from. Maybe the searcher Frank Peters came up with some pertinent information. Good luck, I have been hunting to 30 years and cannot get back beyond 1773. One of the problems is we do not know when the Deacons came to Ireland, story goes they came with Cromwell or in the plantation that followed. Notify Administrator about this message?
