Hi Frank, I don't know if I share genes with Ann Tovey or not, but the women on my mother's side do last a long time ! I'm just going back through all these threads and trying to see if there is a pattern. Do you know where in Canada your James DEACON went ? Also, do you know if DEACON was a common name in Ireland, or at least in Kilkenny and thereabout ? So far, we have three different DEACONS from Kilkenny, Ireland settling in Canada (James, and brothers Daniel and Job) Job (Adolphustown, Upper Canada) and Daniel (Newfoundland) had a brother James. Job is said to be related to Benjamin CRONYN of Kilkenny and London, Upper Canada (I'd like to know the source for that). A Susannah CRONYN of Jerpoint, Kilkenny, married James DEACON of Daryanimore, Co Kilkenny 1775. I have just got a copy of a CRONYN family tree (from archives at the university in London, Canada) that show that my ancestor Thomas, father of Benjamin CRONYN (born 1765), had a brother John (born 1746)"of Walton's Grove, Jerpoint" and a sister Susannah. It seems very likely that the Susannah, sister of my ancestor, is the same Susannah who married James DEACON. It could be that Job DEACON was their son which would make him first cousin to Benjamin CRONYN. It would also fit that James and Susannah would have a son James. All circumstantial, but something to go on. Eve Notify Administrator about this message?
