BWAKA - about us
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
We hope to accomplish three goals in our genealogy pages:
To provide basic genealogy research information pointed toward the needs of the Potawatomi researcher,
To make some of our Potawatomi family trees available on line. We hope that sharing this information will help others with their research and perhaps bring long lost cousins together again.
To go beyond the simple outline of names, relationships and dates, to share some of our family stories. We believe that through these stories we can enrich our own appreciation of what it means to be Potawatomi and share the richness of our history and heritage with others who wander by.
These pages will only be a success with your help. If you are an enrolled Potawatomi and have been working on your family tree, we would be very glad if you would send it to us so that we can add it to our website. If you have a family story that you think would interest others in our Potawatomi family, whether it is the story of one particularly interesting ancestor or of several generations, please write it down and send it to us.
I'd like to introduce you to Susan Campbell, who has prepared and will be developing these pages. On our "How to Start" page (the link is below) she will tell you about her researching adventures, and how to get started in genealogy, if that is your interest.
You may also want to take a look at the genealogy sources and Internet sites she has assembled, some historical lists of members of several bands, and our Potawatomi family trees and family stories.
From the Genealogy Sources page, you can also link to our new Potawatomi Genealogy Query Page.
Please send any correspondence about our genealogy materials, including your family trees and stories, as well as suggestions about genealogy sources and sites that you think others would find useful to Susan. Her email address is [email protected] and the post office finds her at
