A librarian in a South Carolina library kindly did a look-up for me. It turns out the referenced marriage appeared in a book entitled: "Allen and Allied Families; by Doris O'Neall Dunn (1978)"

The referenced SC marriage between John Houston and Mary Calhoun took place "circa 1750". It is clearly not the same couple as my John Huston and Polly Calhoon, who were most likely married in Delaware or Maryland around 1820.
