Gregg - The only John H. Short that fits is from Allen Short. 1860-census for- Allen Short -age 43-W-M farmer
Born Del. Ara A. wife-age 45 children Mary E. age 17 -
Nathanuel age 12 - John H. age 9 - Lydia C. age 5 --
page#35-Broadkiln Hn. house#249- Georgetown post..thats just outside of town North-East.. Ara A. Parker was wife..
Fannie may have been a Cannon? I have a little more info, all the census rec.
My Short line also comes from Sussex Co. from Isaac J. Short and Hannah [Thompson] Short..
