If any one has done any research on Covington Messick living in Sussex Co., Delaware, I would appreciate your help. I have found Covington Messick in the 1790 census and I beleive he is the son of Isaac, son of Julian. The next time a Covington appears is in the 1830 census, but there is no image online to view, so I can not match him up. The 1850 census has a Covington , age 45, b. abt 1805, a farmer. With him is wife Lina, age 47, b. abt. 1803, children Nehemiah, age 21, b. abt 1829; Mahalia, age 17, b. abt. 1833; George, age 15, b. abt. 1835; Rachel, age 11, b. abt 1839; Albert, age 8, b. abt 1842. All living in Sussex Co., Nanticoke Hundred. The 1860 census finds this family now in Kent Co., Mispillion Hundred, and this time he and Lina's ages are given as 52. The only child with them is Albert C., age 18. I find my greatx 3 grandfather Nehemiah Messick with his wife and children for the first time in the 1860 census of Sussex Co. My Nehemiah named my greatx2 grandfather George Albert. The Nehemiah found with the above Covington had a brother named George and one named Albert. The time frame and ages mesh, so I am thinking that this Covington may very well be my Nehemiah's father. Does anyone out there know who this Covington Messick, born 1803-1808 in Delaware is? He must have lived all or most of his life in Delaware. There is a Covington Messick in the 1870 census, but again no online images. Any help would be greatly appreiciated. Best regards, Janice
