Julia, Am I to understand that you have a definate placement of an Edward Blake in New Castle ? If so, what type placement record and what date ? These specifics will help me narrow where I look. I just had my last day at work and will be visiting the Quaker Archives at Swarthmore to research my Whiteside family. Hitting on the early marriage of William Whiteside was simply by accident and not design. I have nothing at present that would link him to my branch and only have strong suspicions of possible Quaker roots that will take me to Swarthmore. Your Edward Blake may be of an early Quaker family. I have found that many Quakers ended up participating in our Revolution and ended up as Methodists. Do you have any record of what faith your Edward practiced ? His children ?
