Caulk & Brown Family decendants from DE to Chincoteague, VA
Juliet Caulk, daughter of John Caulk and Cornelia Brown Caulk married Nathanial Stuart Smith, MD on Chincoteague Island, VA, 1867. Her sister Sarah was married to the Chincoteague Post Master, Josheph T. Kenney.
Cornelia Brown was the daughter of CAPT John Hugh Brown and Araminta Ford. John Hugh, born in Ireland, lived in New Castle and died in Cecil County, MD. Araminta, born in Cecil County MD was the daughter of John F Ford and Millicent Tilden Hyland. Capt John & Araminta had 6 children: Emeline, Millicent, Hugh N., Martha, Margaretta and Nelson. Son Hugh, H.N. Brown headed west and owned a general store in Stockton, CA during the goldrush. He died in an accidental explosion at his store. I am in possession of letters written by Hugh to his sister from 1836-1854. The letters span from his travel from Baltimore to Carlisle PA to Stockton, CA. The letters were left in the attic of my grandfather's Chinoteague home.My guess is one of Cornelia's daughters may have lived in the home prior to my grandfather marrying and raising his family in the home.
