New Castle Orphans Court Question
I have exhausted my study of my interst in Delaware Orphans Court Records. Before I leave them I am asking for any help someone may have about them. They are wonderful records, but is there a place that tells the outcome of these court orders? I thought the Guardians Accounts would be it, but the index to these records do not list my ancestress' guardian. My question is, "What happenbed to the land or property the Orphan's Court was protecting on the orphan's behalf?"Did the orphans simply pass into adulthood and then were no longer of interest to the court? Seems there would have been a final accounting. That is what I desperately need to find, but it seems there is no where else to look. The land indexes show nothing happened to the land in question so it may have just naturally passed to an uncle or thw widow (who is not the mother of my ancestress?I am trying to prove Hannah Morton Sankey is the daughter of Ebenezer Morton. Hannah Morton is listed in the Orphans Court Record but the link to Thomas Sankey is my concern. With no marriage record for Thomas and Hannah I can't prove his wife was a Morton and that she was Ebenezer's daughter. Hannah's guardian was Sylvester Welsh but I have not found any family relationship between them.
