Deceased Name: Carl J. HETTINGER
Carl J. Hettinger Age 84, passed away on October 31 at Franciscan Healthcare Center in Wilmington.
Mr. Hettinger retired from the Wilmington Post Office as a Superintendent of Mails. He was the past president of Postal Supervisors, Past Commander of Post #1 American Legion, Past Commander Wilmington District-American Legion, Past Secretary-Wilmington Serra Club, Past Secretary and President of National Association of Postal Supervisors, Delaware. He was an Army veteran of World War II and an Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. His wife of 40 years, Ann Donovan Hettinger, died in 1978.
He is survived by his 2 nieces, Joan Coffin of New Castle and Shirley McCabe of Wilmington; a great nephew and niece, and 2 great great nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 301 N. Bancroft Parkway, Wilmington, where friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, c/o Jeanne Jugan Residence, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
