George C. Hughes, 91, of 34 Belmont Ave., Richardson Park, died
Thursday at the Cherokee Nursing Home, 714 W. 11th St., Washington
Park, after a short illness.
Mr. Hughes retired in 1948 as proprietor of Hughes Market, which had
been at 36 Belmont Ave., Richardson Park, after 50 years with the
business.
He was an active Mason.
His wife, Bertha Jarrell Hughes, died in 1968.
He is survived by a son, Norman E. of Richardson Park; two daughters,
Dorothy H. Wood, at home, and Edna Devenney of Elmhurst; three
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private and there will be no viewing.
The family asks that flowers not be sent.
