Hi Roger:I appreciate your interest in Abel [ca,1725-1790] & Sarah Davis. There are several clues indicatiing thatAbel of Pencader Hundred is related to my G4 grandfather, Abel Davis [c.1765-1847]One of the primary clues is that fact Abel's older brother, Rev. John Davis [1721-1809] m. Jane Van Voorst. Both are buried in in the cemetery of the OldBrick Church in Harford Co., MD. Members of the Van Voorst family found their way to White Co., IN as did Abel Davis where he d. in 1847. I suspect their migration was by design.
Benjamin Davis [1777-1873] b. MD, about 1800 migrated to Pickaway Co., OH and lived there until the mid 1840's. He is considered a brother of Abel, b. c.1765.Ben moved to White Co., IN before 1850, with his third wife, Maria Burget; leaving his children & grandchildren in OH.
The children of Abel & Sarah Davis as shown in their respective wills were Many Ann Davis who m. Alexander McDonald; Hannah Davis, who M. Benjamin King; John DAvis, m. Sarah ____; Rachel Davis, m. Mr. Perry of Phiadelphia and Benjamin Davis who was known to be under 18 years when he enlisted in Oct 1778 in Capt. Alexander Thompson's company. Don't know who Benjamin married but 3 of his children are mentioned the the will of Sarah:Abel, Sarah and Hannah.
Abel Davis, b. c.1725 had another brother, David Davis, and two sisters, Mary & Hester. All were children of Daniel Davis & Mary Mann who moved from Piscataway, NJ to Bucks Co., PA before 1821. So I am still looking for solid proof. Thanks for your offer. Do you have access to colonial records in DE?
