Isaac Davis, sold IRON HILL to David C. Wood in 1841
I am a Davis researcher.
Isaac Davis was a descendant of Abel [c.1725-1790] & Sarah (Griffith) Davis, d. 1796, Pencader Hundred, New Castle Co., DE.Abel & Sarah owned the ore pits on IRON HILL and ownership passed to Isaac Davis who sold 94 acres to Mr. Wood, an iron-master of Philadelphia. In 1862 the land was again sold to George P. Whittaker, owner of Principio Furnace.
Isaac Davis of Philadelphia was father of Ruth Ann Davis [1856-1926] who m. Geroge Andrew Jamison in Philadelphia 24 Dec 1876.
Whether these two Isaac Davises are one in the same or even related is unknown at present.George Jamison was b. in Tippiecanoe Co., IN in 1853 and was a representative of Western Publishing House of Chicago in Philadelphia from 1878 to 1882.In 1882 they returned to Lafayette, IN where George joined his brothers in a hardware partnership. Any help out there? There is a possiblity Abel DAvis of Pencader Hundred is realted to Abel Davis [c1765-1847] my g4 grandfather of White Co., IN. Long shot? Sure, but nothing ventured nothing gained
