Abel Davis 1 [c1725-1790] was one of 5 children of Daniel Davis [c1690-1753] b. Piscataway, NJ and Mary Mann/Manning d/o John Mann & Elizabeth Dennis according to the great genealogy of Alderson Ancestors of the Jensen Daughters. Daniel Davis d. in New Britian Twp., Bucks Co., PA. The children are identified as David Davis, b. ca.1717; Hester Davis, b. ca.1717; Mary Davis, Rev. John Davis, b. 19 Sep 1721 who m. Jane Van Voorst ca.1742 and Abel Davis, b. ca.1725 in Bucks Co., PA.
Rev. John Davis d. 1809 in Harford, MD and he and Jane are buried at Old Brick Baptist Church in Harford. Abel Davis 11 migrated from Monongalia Co., (present day Taylor Co., WV to Champaign Co., OH about 1818 and on to White Co., IN in 1835 where he d. in 1847.
James S. Van Voorst a member of the same family to which Jane (Van Vooorst)Davis is related was b. in OH 1836 migrated to White Co., IN. Whether the migration was random or designed to associate with Davis relatives is conjecture at present although a WorldConnect program has made such leap. The clue to relationship of my ancestor, Abel 11, to the Davis family of the Welsh Tract, Bucks Co., PA or Harford Co., MD drives me on to either confirm credible suspicions or look elsewhere.
Any assistance will be most welcome.
