Need Will Lookup, Ebenezer van der Grift
I am trying to establish whether the Ebenezer van der Grift whose will was probated in New Castle County is the same one who went to Washington County, Pennsylvania and Monongalia County, Virginia.I am fairly certain that the one who died in Virginia in 1827 was the youngest son of Leonard and Lydia van der Grift of New Castle County. He had a brother, Jacob, a sister, Phoebe, and children named Leonard, Lydia, Phoebe, Mary, Susannah, Jesse and Joseph, all of which appears to place him in the family of Leonard and Lydia of New Castle County. The census places his birth between 1765 and 1770.
According to much Vandergrift information, an Ebenezer Vandergriff had a will in New Castle County, naming children Mary, Abraham, Lydia, Jesse and Susannah. This will was not mentioned in the Monongalia County estate records, and there is no mention of Delaware property. Also the list of children is not quite right, omitting Leonard, Phoebe, and Joseph but including Abraham, who was not a son of the Virginia Ebenezer's, although his daughter Mary married an Abraham Vincent.I suspect that the New Castle County will was written by a different Ebenezer van der Grift. Can anyone look up this will and find out if there are any clues in the will to when Ebenezer was born, where he lived, what his wife's name was, and most importantly, when he died? What was the date of the will, and when was it probated?
