Barbara,
When I first started searching in Wilmington, I sent a request to the Historical Society on Market Street. The fee was $20. and .20 per page copying fee and they gave me 3-5 year increments on directories that mentioned my surname along with census soundex for the surname. It was extremely helpful and more beneficial then renting many directory microfilm. http://www.hsd.org/index.html
