I checked a couple of books by Carol Hoffecker. She says that ethnic groups didn't start to really cluster until the early 20th century. However, she also says that what we call Little Italy got its start on Union Street in the 1880's.I'm pretty sure that would have been St. Ann's (St. James) parish, since the current St. Ann's is very close to Union St.However, St. Paul's is also a possibilty for you, since Scharf says that the parish included Stanton. An Italian parish wasn't established until the 1920's.
