Hello, Ida, thank you for your reply. I have found records on the web for the following Gibason's. The only one from this list that I have known about is Francis J. (my father). Hope this helps you.
The following from New Castle County, Delaware:
1. Acey 1900-1996
2. Alfred 1895-1967
3. Clara 1904-1979
4. Edward 1887-1973
5. Ethel 1893-1988
6. Frnacis Gibason (not my dad) 1927-1970
7. Fred Gibason 1896-1972
8. George 1898-1987
9. George 1917-1978
10. Helen 1913-1998
11. Vera 1917-1989

And the following from Lancaster County, PA:
1. Francis J. Gibason (my dad) 1928-1988
2. Mary 1896-1977

none of these except Francis J. are familiar to me.
I often wonder if "Gibason" is a spelling variant of "Gibason".
Of my grandfather's siblings, he (Joseph C) and a brother John were the only boys. (one brother named George had passed away at around age 16).. . John had no children, and my grandfather had two boys, Francis J. and William, All are deceased. I have one cousin who is the "male heir" to the name "Gibason", and he is the only one to carry on the name that we know of.
Hoping someday to find a family crest and a country of origin! Thanks so muuch, Carole D.
