Unfortunately, I have VERY little to go on. John Collins and Mary C. Denney [Mary C. Denney may have be born in Ohio] were the parents per her death certificate. Mary A...went by May...had three children: Shelby Douglas, Minnie, and Ida [my grandmother]. The wife of Minnie's grandson once told me her grandmother and May grew up in Woodland Beach and were best friends. May evidently had to go to work as a domestic at an early age. {I was told that she had been an indentured servent at one time.] I found her in the 1880 census with her three children living on a farm near Smyrna. I was told that she never married and I don't know who fathered her children. My grandmother would NOT talk about her family AT ALL and there is no one living that can provide any information. Not much to go on, sorry.
