JOHN McNATT OF KENT COUNTY, DELAWARE

The earliest known reference to a McNatt in America is documented in a book called the "Colonial Families of the United States". In this book on pages 30 and 31 is a brief genealogy of the Barrett family. This family starts with Philip Barratt who settled on the Sassafras River prior to 1678. Philip died on the 25 Aug 1733.

In this history of Philip Barratt is a descendant named Norris Stanley Barratt. Norris was born on the 23 Aug 1862. Listed as one of his ancestors who lived on the Delaware-Maryland peninsula is "John McNatt, in Kent County, now Delaware, 1698." "
