Hello fellow researchers. I am not sure that I am posting to the correct board. I am looking for information on my ancestors. As some of you may know, it is hard to trace african american roots, records were rarely kept. I am appealing to anyone and everyone who reads this. Here is the information that I have.
Levin Darnall or Darnel was listed as living in Murderkill Hundred, Kent County Delaware in the 1810 census. I can't find him anywhere else in any state before then. He was listed on page 15 in the 1810 census as a free negro as well as the 1820 & 1830 census. I believe that he is the father of my gggggrandfather. His son, my ggggrandfather's name is John Darnell, he was listed as John Dornal in the 1830 census w/no page number, & 1840, pg. 089.
I don't know who his wife was or where he was born. I know that John married an Elizabeth Jackson, who was also listed as a F.N. in the census as well. If anyone can help me, I have been doing this research for 14 years and have never gotten past John Dornal, who was born in Delaware between 1812 & 1813.
If anyone can do a look up or help me in anyway, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for reading this and assisting me in anyway.
Please email me directly at Tawalaj@aol.com or Durnellclan@aol.com.
I look forward to hearing from anyone
Kind regards and may GOD Bless you.
