States: Delaware: Kent
If anyone has done any research on Covington Messick from either Kent or Sussex Co., I would appreciate your help. I have found a Covington Messick in the 1790 census and I beleive him to be son of Isaac, son of Julian. The next Covington appears in the 1830 census, but there is no online image so I can't compare him. The 1850 census shows a Covington in Sussex Co., age 45, with wife Lina age 47, and children Nehemiah age 21, Mahalia, age 17. George age 15, Rachel age 11, and Albert age 8. The 1860 census has this family in Kent Co., with Covington and Lina age 52, and the only child with them is Albert C. age 18. My greatx2grandfather Nehemiah Messick first appears in the 1860 census with a wife and young family. He also names my great-grandfather George Albert. The Nehemiah with Covington in 1850 has a brother named George and one named Albert. Does anyone out there know who this Covington is? He must have lived all or most of his life in Delaware. There is a Covington in the 1870 census, but again, no online image to view. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards, Janice
