Your post is a bit old, but if you are still interested in finding photographs, try www.shorpy.com. It's a collection of old American photographs from the National Archives that have been spiffed up, and there are a lot of them from Washington, D.C. I tried searching with "D Street" Washington (those two terms together), and there were a number of hits. You could try other words too, I suppose.
