William Henry Hiss...died suddenly of heart disease shortly after 7 o'clock yesterday morning at his residence, 937 N. Charles St....Last fall he had suffered internal trouble, affecting his heart, and Dr. Atkinson told him to avoid excitement. He woke up with severe chest pains but died by the time the dr. arrived. [He] was the son of Jacob Hiss, born in East Baltimore, was 65. Before the War he manufactured furniture, esp chairs, and exported them to South America. In 1880 he was elected reading clerk of the MD senate, appointed purveyor of the Asylum in 1872. Married, two grown sons, wife a daughter of Samuel R. Child.
