Lothar, there is this information on a family of four taken from the Index of Passengers Lists of Ships Arriving from Foreign Ports at the Port of New Orleans, Louisiana. Date of arrival is December 2, 1851:

-- Johan BIXSCHLAG; age 29; Farmer; Port of Departure – Breman, Germany; destination St. Louis, MO; ship name Milan.
-- Gertrud BIXSCHLAG; age 30; Port of Departure – Breman, Germany; destination St. Louis, MO; ship name Milan.
-- Anna BIXSCHLAG; age 4 months.
-- Gerad BIXSCHLAG; age 4 months.

Johan and Gertrud could not be found in any US censuses. However, in the 1920 Census for Justice Precinct #2, Parker County, Texas, Enumeration District 66, Worth Street, Sheet 6A, taken January 9, 1920 is this entry for their son:

Bixschlag, J. G., head, white male, age 68, single, arrived in US 1851, naturalized 1861, born Germany, parents born Germany, occupation farm laborer.
