Today I received the book "In Old Kentucky" by Charles T. (Turner) Dazey who wrote it as a play in 1892. Charles is the son of Mitchell Dazey and grandson of Ishmael Dazey, both of whom were born in Bourbon Co., KY. Evidently this play was quite popular in its day. It was made into a movie 4 times with one starring Will Rodgers. There is quite a bit of biographical information in this book about Charles' life. Charles was born in 1855 in Lima, Adams, IL and died there in 1938 but lived many places inbetween. It appears that he had only one son, Frank Mitchell Dazey who attended Harvard like his father and was a writer for the Saturday Evening Post. I would be happy to share more information if you are interested. Ishmael Dazey is the brother to Jonathan, Lemuel, Elijah, Jasper Dazey who came from Delaware to Bourbon/Nicholas Counties, KY in the late 1700's.
