William Dawson Belmont Co Ohio area pre civil war

I am looking for information regarding William Dawson who married Mary A Shepherd, (daughter of Thomas and Mary Lazenby Shepherd) in 1851 Belmont Co OH. I believe they may have had children Edward and Margaret who are residing with other Shepherd family members. According to the information from Richard Shepherd's biography in Belmont County History, His sister Mary Ann (Mrs Dawson)died in 1900 at Beallsville, Monroe Co. OH, her husband having died in the Army. Concluding that he probably served in civil war, I did not find his name in the 43rd Reg, Ohio Volunteers that her brothers served in. I did however find a William Dawson born about 1830 who served in Co D 129th Inf. Reg, that indicated he died during the civil war - 14 Oct 1863 and that he enlisted 10 Aug 1863.
