Rieta,

Nancy Dawson was the daughter of Benjamin Dawson and Mary Ann Martin (dau of Thomas Martin and Ann Moorman). Benjamin was an early 1795 settler on the Green River in what was then Lincoln County - it became Casey Co in 1806. He appears to have lived on the same 250 acres from 1795 until his death in 1837.

Benjamin and Mary's children were:

Nancy Dawson, m James Stevens
Benjamin Dawson, Jr m Mildred Coffey
George Washington Dawson, m Ann Wade
Milly Dawson, m Toby Sweeney
Elizabeth Dawson, m Robert Powell
Sally Dawson, m Josiah Haynes
Polly Dawson, m Edward Drake
- maybe more -

You can read a bit of the family history on Google Books:

A History of Northwest Missouri Vol2 pages 931-933
John Carpenter Dawson article

My ancestor was Richard Adams who married Susannah Dawson (Benjamin's sister) and was a witness on the interesting document you posted.

I extracted the Casey Co tax records on Benjamin Dawson from 1806 to his death in 1837 and would be happy to mail them to you.

Benjamin lived on the north side of Green River across from the current town of Dunnville. There is a Dawson Creek which likely ran through his land:

DAWSON CREEK in Casey County, Kentucky, USA.
Latitude: 37.20583 : Longitude: -85.01944

Benjamin built a brick house around 1830 which was the only one at the time, and his property later became known as "brick house farm".

"Dunnville, Casey Co, KY, was named after James Dunn. The Dunns lived on a farm near Dunnville referred to as "the brick house farm" because the house, believed to have been built by the first sheriff of Casey County, Benjamin Dawson, about 1830, was the only brick house for miles around. The Dunn cemetery is located on this farm"

by Arthur P. Rynearson, pg 92 (Google Books)

I would be happy to provide more info on Benjamin and the Dawson's if you would like.
