I am researching John Bowman, me and my follow Bowman researchers have determined that he lived in Old Town, Allegany Co, Maryland before moving to Ross Co, Ohio. Which is where Edward Dawson's daughter Elizabeth moved to and married Enos Moore.

In the following excerpt of a biography it states that William L Bowman's grandparents are John Bowman and Sarah Dawson.
From the book Nebraska Vol 2 on pages 522 & 523 History of the Elkhorn Valley:

DR. WILLIAM L. BOWMAN, the oldest practicing physician in Stanton County, Nebraska, has been a resident since October, 1868, and hence very naturally finds a place in the biographical record of the county in which he has lived so long.

Dr. Bowman was born in Ross County, Ohio, September 11, 1825. His grandfather was John Bowman, a native of Germany. He married Sarah Dawson. They settled in Maryland and subsequently in Brownsville, Pennsylvania. By this union six children were born: Benjamin, the father of our subject: Thomas, Eli, Daniel, Margaret and Mary. In about 1790 John Bowman moved to Ross County, Ohio, where he died in about 1834, aged a little over ninety years.
Mrs Bowman died in the same county at an advance age.

Here is an excerpt from Michael Lacopo, post#5357
Edward Dawson was born in or around 1755 in what is now Allegany County, Maryland, the son of Edward Dawson. His mother’s name is not known. He met and married his wife Hannah here. His children Elizabeth and Leonard were born in present day Allegany County, Maryland, in 1777 and 1778. He was a private in the Washington County Militia, 1st Class, Capt. Daniel Cresap’s Company, 3rd Battalion in 1776 and 1777. He also took the oath of Allegiance before the Hon. Lemuel Barritt before 16 March 1778. Edward paid taxes in Upper Old Town Precinct, Washington County (now Allegany County), Maryland, in 1783. He owned land here in 1788. His children married in Allegany County, Maryland, in 1792 and 1797. Edward Dawson was enumerated in Upper Old Town Precinct in 1800. He was still living in Maryland in 1801 and 1805 when his father’s estate was inventoried. In short, Edward Dawson never left the confines of his home near the Potomac River from his birth until his migration in middle age.

Edward Dawson removed to Ross County, Ohio, in 1806 where his daughter and son-in-law, Enos and Elizabeth (Dawson) Moore, had moved a few years previously. He and his wife, Hannah, lived in the household of Enos Moore in 1830 in Franklin Township, Ross County, Ohio, but shortly thereafter undertook the long journey to Shelby Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana, where Enos purchased land on 22 September 1831. Edward Dawson died shortly thereafter on 28 August 1833. His wife followed on 25 July 1839. Only her stone is left standing on the old farm cemetery in Shelby Township.

We are trying to find out if Sarah Dawson is Edward Dawson's sister.

The Dawson's, Moore's and Bowman's all came from Allegany County, Maryland to Ross Co, Ohio together.

We can not find a marriage for this couple. But we did find John Bowman in a 1783 Tax List with the Dawson's and Moore's in Old Town, Allegany County, Maryland.
