Hi Richard,
According to Sam Henry Dawkins' death certificate which is very hard to read, his father was Will Dawkins and mother was Eliza Ross. Further research shows Will Dawkins is William W. Dawkins b. ca 1855 Kershaw County, SC d. 28 Jul 1923 Columbia, SC bur'd Union Baptist Church, Elgin, SC, marker only shows aged 75 years, s/o Henry Dawkins (b. ca 1835) & Martha ? (b. ca 1837). Eliza Ross b. 18 Mar 1857 d. 26 May 1920 Chesterfield County, SC, also bur'd at Union Baptist Church, Elgin, SC, d/o William B. Ross (b. ca 1825)and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Albert (b.ca 1835). This is as far back as I go for now.
Sam Henry Dawkins' would have been my grandaughters' (now adopted daughter) 3rd great grandfather.
