Spartanburg Journal, Monday,January 4, 1909. { Spartanburg, S.C.} MISS OPHELIA DAWKINS DEAD Miss Ophelia Dawkins, of the city, died at Boiling Green, Fla., last Saturday night. Miss Dawkins left here last October for Florida to spend the winter and while at Bowling Green she was taken ill and her death followed Saturday night. Miss Dawkins was one of the most beloved women of this city. She was a woman of noble Christian character, sweet and gentle disposition and loved. The news of her death will be learned with great sorrow and regret. She was an aunt of Dr. J.D. Comer of Atlanta, who is here to attend the funeral and a sister of the late S.M. Dawkins, who for many years conducted a large drug store in Spartanburg. Miss Dawkins was librarian of the Kennedy Library for 3-4 years and was also also a teacher in the Sunday school of Central Methodist Church. She always manifested much interest in religious work and in doing good for others. The body will be brought to Spartanburg for interment. The funeral , time of which will be announced later, will be held from the residence of MRS. A.J.
