Journal and Carolina Spartan [Spartanburg, S.C. ] Nov. 27, 1929 MRS. AUGUSTA JANE DAWKINS, former resident of Spartanburg, died last night in Atlanta at the home of her daughter, MRS. CORRIE BELLE DAWKINS MURRAY, with whom she lived. She was about 78 years of age. The body will be brought to the Floyd mortuary on North Church street this afternoon from which place the funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon, the Rev. W.L. MULLIKIN of Central Meth. church officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood cemetery. MRS. DAWKINS was a daughter of the late REV. JAMES F. SMITH, for years a prominent minister of this section. She was twice married, her first husband being J.P. LIGON. Two children were born to this union, CHARLES LIGON, deceased and WALTER LIGON of New York. Later in life she was married to DR. SPENCER M. DAWKINS, who for many years was engaged in the drug business here, a member of a firm of Hill and Dawkins. One son and one daughter, MORGAN DAWKINS and MRS. MURRAY , were of this union. She was a sister of PROF. PERRIN SMITH, identified with the Leland Stanford Univ. of Calif., DR. CHARLES SMITH, who is connected with a university in Wisconsin and ROBERT SMITH, prominent business man of Newberry, S.C. --- [ this is not my family] Notify Administrator about this message?
